Could the rise in the UK Grey Squirrel population be related to the decline in the number of house sparrows?

mibbe ur Q shud be framed the opp way round...Greys r opportunistic omnivores..given circumstances favoring an increase in their numbers in a mainly deciduous environment (due to say humans feeding them)..there would more predation on the nests of smaller birds of ALL species in that environment.Could the rise in the UK Grey Squirrel population be related to the decline in the number of house sparrows?
No the house sparrow declined due to a disease several years ago. Also there has been a significant rise in the hawk population. I saw a sparrowhawk in my Birmingham garden, for the first time this year. I saw no small birds for the next month.

Grey squirrels are more of a threat to blackbirds, song thrushes and cuckoos, as their nests are more exposed.Could the rise in the UK Grey Squirrel population be related to the decline in the number of house sparrows?
dont see the link ? grey squirrels pop rose because they out bred and out fought the red squirels, house sparrows ...dunno !
